Happy Golden Week, OkiJETs!
Golden Week is the number one travel week in Japan, consisting of four national holidays in a one-week time span. This year’s Golden Week is arranged to give everyone a three-day weekend from April 27th-29th followed by a four-day weekend from May 3rd-6th.
While many take advantage of the holidays to go traveling on mainland Japan, Golden Week is also a great time to explore Okinawa just before the true summer heat begins. Check out the Island Guides or our page on Places to Visit to find your next Okinawan adventure!
For those that travel, beware of the crowds, and make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get places. Remember to leave a copy of your plans with someone you trust!

We hope you had plenty of time for fun and rest over the break because now begins the busiest month of the year.
Having said farewells in March, we can now anticipate saying hellos and getting to know new coworkers, friends, and students.
Good luck with the first semester! If you get overwhelmed, just remember that Golden Week is right around the corner!

Congratulations to everyone for making it to the end of the school/fiscal year!
While saying farewell to our 6th and 3rd year students can be tough, remember that they are on to better and brighter futures.
We encourage everyone to take some time to recharge over the break before the hustle and bustle of April begins; not only will a new school term begin, but Annual Reports are due at the end of the month, too!
If you go on a trip, make sure to bring back some omiyage for your friends and coworkers.

We hope everyone has enjoyed the break and is looking forward to the new year.
Congratulations to the first-year JETs–you have made it through some of the best (and toughest) months. As we begin 2024, you can look forward to making even more memories.
For those that traveled, we hope you had a safe journey. Hopefully, you remembered to bring some omiyage back for your co-workers! For those that stayed in Okinawa, we hope you enjoyed some well-deserved rest and fun, reenergizing you for the new year.
Speaking of the new year, did you know that 2024 is the Year of the Dragon? Dragons symbolize power, nobleness, honor, luck, and success. For those born in 1976, 1988, and 2000, this is your year to thrive.
May everyone’s 2024 be filled with the luck and success of a dragon.
