Welcome to all the incoming Okinawa JETs of 2024! We’re looking forward to meeting you and we hope you’re excited for your new life here in Okinawa. We realize that many of you may be feeling overwhelmed with preparations, so we encourage you to check out the different pages on this website to help you settle in and put your mind at ease. You can find general information about life in Okinawa and the islands themselves as well as information regarding working as an ALT.

We are very happy that many of you have already introduced yourselves in the LINE groups, Discord channel, and the Facebook page. If you have not had the chance to do so, please check out these groups as they are a great place to ask current JETs any questions you might have about both work and home life in Okinawa.

Don’t forget to check out the end of the year/farewell parties in your block as well as the OkiAJET Farewell Party to be held on Saturday, July 20th in Yonashiroikemi, Uruma.

Happy Golden Week, OkiJETs!

Golden Week is the number one travel week in Japan, consisting of four national holidays in a one-week time span. This year’s Golden Week is arranged to give everyone a three-day weekend from April 27th-29th followed by a four-day weekend from May 3rd-6th.

We encourage everyone to take some time to recharge over the break before the hustle and bustle of April begins; not only will a new school term begin, but Annual Reports are due at the end of the month, too!  

If you go on a trip, make sure to bring back some omiyage for your friends and coworkers.
