Thank you to Michaela Phillip for providing our logo. Michaela is a second-year OkiJET from Trinidad and Tobago. Michaela explains her design as so: “The Okinawa Hanagasa is a brightly colored hat worn by female dancers. It resembles a flower, but also from a top-down view, it reminds me of a steelpan, an instrument originating in Trinidad and Tobago. So this design is special to me as it feels like I was able to combine Okinawan culture with my own.”
We hope all our new OkiJETs are settling into the island lifestyle nicely. With all the hustle and bustle of the last two months, you may not have had a chance to read up on Okinawa; however, you need not worry as we have plenty of information for you. Please check out our recently updated pages on Urasoe, Okinawa Trivia, Okinawa`s Wildlife, and Transportation to gain more insight on life in Okinawa. We also encourage you to check back as more updates are soon to come.
